Mrs Beck was born December 12, 1921 on a farm in Nuckolls County near Angus to Henry and Esther DeVore Ahrens and grew up in the Edgar/Angus area. She attended Edgar Schools, graduating with the class of 1939. She taught country school for two years in Clay County. She married Harold E Beck at Clay Center on September 10, 1941. Mrs Beck worked for more than 20 years as cook in the schools in Edgar and for the Sandy Creek High School, retiring in 1983. She was active in the Edgar Church of the Plains, in the church choir, circle, as an elder and in other positions.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, Harold, on September 10, 1990.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Carol Beck and Wayne and Maria all of Edgar; two daughters, Linda Greuter and husband Tim of Houston, Texas and Carol Bennett of Rangely, CO; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Don Gunn, and Doris and John Wallace, all of Edgar; two sisters-in-law, Mary Beck of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Gladys Brooks of Juniata; her stepmother, Fern Ahrens of Edgar; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
