Carl Oscar Erickson was born in Ostergootland, Linkoping, province in Sweden on April 22, 1850. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith while in Sweden. In 1866 he, together with a brother and sister came to America, settling near Andover, Ill. The rest of the family soon followed them.

Mr. Erickson was married to Inga Marie Slatt, March 29, at Andover, Ill., who preceded him in death just ten months ago. To this union were born seven children. Two of them, Theodore and Arthur preceded him in death.

At the organization of the Gethsemane Lutheran church of Edgar, now of Ong, in 1882, Mr. Erickson became a charter member and remained a faithful and devoted worker all these 52 years.
He is survived by four sons and one daughter, Henry, Ebburt, and Luther all of Edgar, Ernest of Grand Island, and Mrs. Esther Pearson of Shickley, one brother John Erickson of Oakland, and one sister, Mrs. August Holmquist of Lincoln, 18 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
