Everett LeRoy Benson was born on October 30, 1908 to Carl and Ellen Anderson Benson near Ong, and Passed away at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings at the age of 78. He was the oldest of three children.

On April 13, 1946, he was united in marriage to Berneta Gratopp and to them three children were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers, Merrill and Howard. He is survived by his wife Berneta of Shickley; his daughter, Shirley Myers of Gaylord, MI; sons James of Hastings and Lonnie of Shickley; and by seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, August 19, from the Zion Lutheran Church in Shickley with Vicar Richard Hoogerhyde officiating.

Stanley Johnson accompanied Sue Johnson, who sang "Be Still My Soul".
The congregational hymn was "In the Garden"

Those serving as pallbearers were Eldon Benson, Gordon Benson, Ronald Benson, Darrell Johnson, Donn Mellott and Dean Nelson.

Interment was in the Swedish Cemetery west of Shickley with Farmer and Son Funeral Home of Geneva in charge of arrangements.
