SITKA, ALASKA - Charles "Sharkie" Gerald Erickson died at his home in Sitka, Alaska on August 2, 1999.Memorial services were held August 6, 1999 at Kalinin Bay. Charles was born June 9, 1927 in Edgar, NE to Ebburt Erickson of Nebraska and Ruth (Roos) Erickson of Sweden.
He worked as a baker, butcher, Longshoreman with Southeast Stevedoring and as a commercial fisherman on his boat, the F/V Talache.
He served in the Army in France during the latter part of World War II.
On April 22, 1949 he married Virginia Erickson in Ong.He was a member of both the Sitka Elks Lodge 1062 and Sitka Moose Lodge 1350.
Survivors include his wife Virginia of Sitka; daughters, Geri Wirta and Debbie Cushing of Sitka and Nancy Biesen of Marysville, WA; a son Gayle Erickson of Sitka; brother, Merv Erickson of Edgar, NE; sister Wilma Kelley, Coffeyville, KS; 14 grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
