He was born May 28, 1938, in Cottonwood, to Bert and Hattie (Jess) James. He was raised primarily in Harpster. On March 16, 1957, he married Janice Brandt in Grangeville. His occupations included being a logging truck driver for Potlatch, owning his own truck (the Duck) while hauling for Denton, and Sweet, Herman Konrad, Bob Lee and various area logging companies for 22 years. He also worked as a heavy duty mechanic for VECO at the North Slope for 24 years and retired March 26, 2002.
Raymond enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing pinochle, and spending time telling stories with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Janice James of Kooskia; six children; two brothers; a sister; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bert James; mother, Hattie James; brother, Oral James; sisters Oma Stout and Lorraine O'Neil; and granddaughter Jenny Rae Endebrock.
His children want to express their deep love for their father, and how proud and honored they are to have had their father in their lives.
