Milbourne S Pearson was born to Ernest and Melinda (Nelson) Pearson on August 22, 1916, on the family farm in Fillmore County, Nebraska. He passed away at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, Nebraska on Tuesday, December 2, at the age of 92 years, 3 months and 10 days. He was one of two children in the family.
Milbourne was confirmed in Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Ong, Nebraska in 1928 and he remained a member until the church closed. Milbourne then transferred his membership to Stockholm Lutheran Church and remained a member until that church closed. While at Heritage Crossings, he continued his Lutheran faith through Pastor Amy Krejcarek of the Christ Lutheran Church in Davenport, Nebraska.
Milbourne attended District #87 through the 8th grade. At the age 12 years old, Milbourne lost his father and became the man of the house.
When his father built the home place a nice barn was built first. They lived in the haymow while the house was being built. Milbourne was born in the house and lived there for 90 years and the house still remains on the farm. Due to failing health he moved to Heritage Crossing in August of 2005.
He spent his entire life connected to the land and farming was the love of his life. Milbourne went through the depression years and hard economical times that followed. He lived in the years of the steam power equipment and threshing crew era. He grew up with Leanard and Alvin Venell who had a threshing crew and steam engine called Jumbo. At the age of 25 Milbourne ran the threshing machine and Alvin ran the steam engine. Milbourne was a part of this crew until 1941 when Leonard moved to Oregon. Milbourne was always handy with machines.
Milbourne spent his entire life in the Shickley and Davenport area. He loved to hunt ducks and pheasants, and he made many hunting friends due to the love of the sport.
Milbourne was preceded in death by his mother and father Ernest and Melinda, a sister and brother-in-law Bonnie and Louie Hartl.
Milbourne was single his entire life, and he is survived by cousins and a host of friends.

Ernest died 1930 when Milbourne was about 14.

The Venell bros large tractor was "Jumbo" not steam but fuel oil, but not thick. Also used water injection.

1940 or 1941, Milbourne ran the threshing machine and Alvin Venell ran the tractor for a year or 2.

I remember helping them move Leonard V. by wagon to train station with cow and farm equipment and car to Oregon.
