DAVENPORT - Mrs Clayton (Helen) Nelson, daughter of Albert and Hattie Johnson was born May 3, 1910 at Sutton.

She was baptized as an infant in the Methodist Church at Sutton.
On December 1, 1935 she and Clayton Nelson were married at the home of her parents near Sutton. She moved to a farm near Davenport where she spent most of her married life.
She was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Davenport, a member of the LCW and taught Sunday School for many years.

Mrs Nelson died at Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Deshler March 26, 1990, having reached the age of 79 years, 10 months and 23 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Leonard Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Clayton; two sons, Dean Nelson of Davenport and Jan Nelson of York; two daughters, Diana Killman of Beatrice and Sheila Witfoth of Lincoln and eight grandchildren.

She is also survived by one brother Ray Johnson of Cheyenne WY.
Funeral services were held March 28 in Christ Lutheran Church in Davenport with Don Hunzeker officiating. Soloist was Pastor Hunzeker and congregational hymns sung with Doris Keim as accompanist. Pallbearers were Robert Henkel, Louie Hartl, Emil Pearson, Norris Schardt, Gary Johnson and Kenneth Buckles.

Burial was in the Ong Cemetery.
