Mrs. Peterson was born Jan. 15, 1909, near Shickley. She attended a rural country school. On Aug. 31, 1927, she married Clinton Peterson at the Lutheran Church in Ong. They farmed in the Shickley area until retiring in the late 1960's. They then moved to Sutton. He died Jan. 15, 1974.
She was a member of First St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Survivors are three daughters, Doris Gowen of Sutton, Bonnie Nelson of Shickley and Shirley Hulligan of Wenatchee, Wash.; one sister, Emma Osborne of York; two brothers, Glen Nelson of Hastings and Dale Nelson of Harvard; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Peterson was born January 15, 1909, on a farm northwest of Shickley to Bernard Dietrich and Anna Johanna (Mengers) Alfs. She was the youngest of nine children. At the age of three, her mother died and she went to live with friends of the family, Andrew and Tillie Nelson, who raised her as their own. She attended rural School District 52 west of Shickley. She was united in marriage to Clinton Peterson on August 31, 1927, at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Ong.
They farmed most of their married life in the Saronville, Ong, and Shickley areas. they retired from farming in 1969 and moved to Sutton. Mr. Peterson died January 15, 1974. she was a member of the First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings. She had been a church organist for forty years a Sunday School teacher, and also a member of the Missionary Society, Ladies Aid, LCW, and WELCA.
She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Doris Gowen and husband Gordon of Sutton, Mrs. Bonnie Nelson and husband Ben of Shickley, and Mrs. Shirley Hulligan and husband Dave of Wenatchee, WA; one sister, Mrs. Emma Osborne of York; two foster brothers, Glenn Nelson of Hastings, and Dale Nelson of Harvard; 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
