Noteringar

Janette was born the daughter of Victor and Carrie (Wheeler) McCormick. The family moved to Elsie, NE where she received her education and graduated from Elsie High School in 1956. During those years she loved her school activities, along with swimming and art.

On August 30, 1958, Janette was united in marriage to Lawrence Jerome Miller at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Platte, NE and to this union, three children were born. In 1977, she graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, IL with a Bachelor Degree in Education. Raising her three children was the most important event in her life, followed by teaching others, and her volunteer work. Janette’s work started as a Lab Assistant for two years in Nebraska hospitals at North Platte and Lincoln, NE. Later she worked as a bank teller for 2 years, due to her ability to speak Spanish. Then she taught at Holy Family Catholic Elementary School for 12 years in Peoria, IL; eventually teaching at Sylvan Learning Center in Peoria where she taught students of all ages.

In her volunteer work, she was involved with Peoria Lakeside Museum for many years, where she was a member and Docent. She was also a member and officer of the Fine Arts Society in Peoria. At the Methodist Hospital Support Club in Peoria, she helped raise money for hospital technical equipment. In Peoria and Elkhorn, she was a member for many years in the PEO, Philanthropic Education Organization. When she was able to find free time, it was spent hiking, biking, playing tennis, swimming, golfing, playing both bridge and Mah Jong, and playing the piano. She enjoyed Husker football, Enya’s music, grilled salmon, and white wine (just one glass). Her favorite flower is purple iris.

Janette was a loving, caring, strong, quick-witted, and beautiful inside and out. She deeply loved and was dedicated to her family. They were her number 1 priority. Her smile beamed love. She was so proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchild.
She taught us to be kind, honest and hardworking. Her favorite thing to say was, “Love you, Hon!”
