(1925-2013)

Leonard Eugene Anderson, age 87, passed away quietly at his home in Eugene, Oregon on Friday, April 5, 2013. Known affectionately as "Andy" to his beloved wife Marjorie (deceased), friends, neighbors and many others, our father lived a long and full life. He biked several miles to work at the Bureau of Land Management every day - rain, snow or shine until his retirement. Except for the last few years, Andy walked up to 8 miles a day enjoying the parks, neighbors, friends and local dogs. He loved the outdoors, reading, a good game of solitaire, lemon meringue pie, and most of all, his family.

Born in Easthampton, Massachusetts to Charles and Huldah Anderson, Leonard served in the Army overseas during WWII, met a nurse named Marjorie at a dance and they lived happily together for 59 years. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts, he moved with Marjorie to Michigan where he completed his course work for a Master's degree in Forestry from the University of Michigan. They then moved West - spending some time in Quincy, California and Colorado before settling in Eugene, Oregon.

Leonard is survived by his children: Sharon, Ray, Cindy, Lori, and Jim; grandchildren: Melanie, Rebecca, Brianna, Steven, Olivia, and Noah; great-grandchildren: Cassie and Cyrus; and many extended family members. The family gives a heartfelt thank you to Visiting Angels of Eugene for their compassionate care of Andy over the last two years. Andy will be remembered for his quintessential expression "Egads!", baby blue eyes and his kind heart. The family has a new slogan, "W2D2", or "What would Dad do?"
