GRACE BEATRICE JOHNSON MARCHANT, 91, of Aladdin, Wyoming passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at the Crook County Long Term Care in Sundance.
She was born March 11, 1919 in Slayton, Minnesota to Karl Fritiof Johansson (Americanized to Charlie Johnson) and Anna Louise (Peterson) Johnson. Grace’s parents moved from Minnesota to Newell, SD when Grace was a child. They moved to Belle Fourche where Grace finished her schooling and met Harry Marchant.
Grace married Harry Marchant at Broadus, MT on April 27, 1942 and moved to the family ranch north of Aladdin. Two sons blessed their marriage, Walter in 1946 and Ray in 1951.
She helped organize the Bear Lodge 4-H Club. She loved her family and especially loved babies. Grace enjoyed fishing and was an excellent cook.
Prior to entering the Crook County Long Term Care, Grace resided at the Joyce and Ed Buchholz Elderly Care Home in Belle Fourche.
Grateful for sharing her life are her two sons, Walt and Carolyn Marchant and Ray and Sharon Marchant all of Aladdin; five grandsons, Brian and Jeryln and Brad and Lori all of Sundance, Clay and Christi and Chris and Stephanie all of Aladdin and Devin and Stacy of Sundance; 10 great-granddaughters, 1 great-grandson and one on the way, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harry on Dec. 5, 2000; 5 brothers, Edor, John, Herbert, Eldon and Roy and her sister, Lucille Carlin.
