GENEVA - Ethel Elaine Benson died October 7, 1999 at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 86 years, three months and 18 days.
Services were held Saturday, October 9, 1999 at Stockholm Lutheran Church, rural Shickley with Pastor Jonathan Jensen officiating. Interment was in the Ong Cemetery.
Ethel was born June 19, 1913 to Claus and Emelia (Bjorklund) Johnson at Shickley, She lived her entire live in the Shickley and Ong areas. She attended District #86 in Fillmore County through eighth grade and graduated from Shickley High School in 1930.
On September 9, 1933 she married Lynn M Benson.
She was baptized in the Stockholm Lutheran Church and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
She was a member of Stockholm Lutheran Church and served as a Sunday School teacher and Bible school teacher for many years and was a lifelong member of the Ong Woman's Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Reuben Johnson; husband Lynn Benson and son Gordon Benson.
Survivors include her son Eldon and wife Judy of Ong; daughter Rosy Neidt of Lincoln; brothers Edwin Johnson of Shickley and Lynn Johnson of Geneva; sister Pearle Holsten of North Platte; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to Stockholm Lutheran Church.
Farmer & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
