Martin Hokom, son of John and Olivia Hokom was born at Galva, Ill., July 27, 1873. He died at his home in Ong, Neb., May 25, 1954, at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 28 days.

He came to Nebraska with his parents at the age of 12. They lived near Shickley for a short time, then moved to a farm seven miles north of Ong. He moved to Ong in 1925.

He was married to Anna Johnson July 7, 1906. She died in 1907. He married Anna Wongdahl, October 5, 1909.

He was a kind and loving husband and father and a good friend and neighbor. He was a member of the Ong Methodist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Anna; one daughter, Eleanor; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Johnson of Sutton and Mrs. Ida Benson of Ong; one brother, Henry of Opportunity, Wash., and other relatives.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at the Ong Methodist Church with Rev. W. W. Maxwell, assisted by the Rev. L. R. Hansberry, in charge. Two sons, "Ivory Palaces" and "Under His Wings" were sung by Mrs. Harry Wight, Mrs. Will Herrick, Mrs. Fred Zetterman and Mrs. Oscar Danielson. Mrs. Ralph McCloughan accompanied the singers. Pallbearers were Ralph McCloughan, Earl Killion, Fred Zetterman, Dick Schreifer, Paul Johnson and John Johnson of Shickley. Burial was in the Shickley Cemetery.
